Writing your own pieces
Your assistant can write a piece that does not exist in the library, check it, and use it in your films: connected online, it goes to “My pieces”, on your account; with the connector on your computer, into your folder. In the editor, it is placed like any other.
What can be written
- A template
- A style
- A scene made of elements
- A transition or an effect (a shader)
- An animation, a text animation
- A camera move
- A sound, written as a score for our synthesizer
- A 3-D object, assembled from our shapes
How
- get_piece { example } gives a model that passes, and the rules.
- create_piece writes it (into “My pieces” online, into pieces/ on your computer) and checks it quickly; an unknown setting is refused by its name.
- check_piece puts it through the checks every piece of the library passes, drawn by the real engine, with a picture of the piece at work; online, your plan gives a number of them a day. Online it takes 3 to 4 minutes and runs on the server: the first call answers at once that it started, another call a few minutes later gives the verdict without counting another check.
- show_piece shows it in several versions in your assistant's window, with “Add to the film” (a 3-D object, through the scene that shows it; a sound is listened to in the editor).
- A film that uses it carries it: it opens anywhere.
A shader
It sees pixels only, and it is held to what ours do: loops of 48 turns at most, 288 texture reads per pixel at most (a function counts for what it reads at every call, as many times as the loops around the call turn), no word GLSL keeps for itself.
Sharing it
publish_piece offers it to everybody, with your agreement: it passes the checks first, then a person of the Cutscene team reviews it, within 3 days at most, before the others see it. A sound written as a score or a 3-D object cannot be shared for now, nor what holds one.
